That's right its just too expensive to vacation here ...we've already lost many key tourists from Japan , Canada , and Austrailia . Its just too expensive . When you go in to a ABC store which are 27 in Waikiki and box of cornflakes is $14 and a snickers bar $3 . The other day I had a cheeseburger , french fries and a coke and it was $28 ..and it wasn't even in a restaurant . Hawaii is shooting itself in the foot once they impose this new 12% hotel tax on top of all the other taxes . It is a enviromental tax . The Japanese stopped coming . The yen is not doing well against the dollar and the Japanese who do come can't even afford to eat out . They eat in their hotel room room ..if you go to the beach and want to rent a beach chair and umbrella its between $45 and $ 60 a day.. what a rip off .......these hotels , the landlords , the Bishop Estate , the Hawaii state government , the politicians , all the greedy invaders who come here to rape Hawaii are all to blame . Hawaii is pricing itself out of the tourist market and you can see it by the empty streets in Waikiki .
